It’s almost here, Apple’s BIG invite only event kicks off Tuesday, March 7 at 1 p.m. at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and it should be all about the Pad. The web should be flooded with pictures, information speculation and probably some early reviews live from the event.
Here’s what we think we know about the iPad 3 or iPad HD.
According to 9to5Mac, Apple’s newest tablet will go on sale on March 16, which is also the grand opening of Apple’s two newest retail locations, one at the famous Harrod’s department store in London, England, and the other in Houston, Texas.
A name is just a name, right?
Who cares what it’s called only that it’s a true upgrade from the iPad 2 which works real well for me. CNET reports that Apple will forgo the number naming game and call the device the iPad HD. Duh, the next iPad will feature a 2048×1536 resolution Retina display, which is twice the resolution of iPad 0r iPad 2.
New design or just the same old size
While many of you have been hoping for a thinner pad, that might be able to happen. Their have been unoffcial photos posted by China-based gadget blog MIC Gadget of the front and back panels of the iPad HD. It looks almost identical in design to the iPad 2. I think it will be a little bit thicker, thanks to a bigger battery required to power the new high-def display and all the new apps that will suck it dry of energy.
The iPad HD will, in fact, support 4G LTE connectivity as reported by Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal. The iPad will be available with a LTE radio on Verizon and AT&T, the only two Apple-approved carriers that currently have an LTE network up and running.
This report was supplemented from various new sources.
