Polaroid launches 300 Instant Retro Camera

It’s true what goes around comes around, well sort of.

Those old Polaroid Land One-Step Polaroid instant cameras from the 70′s were everywhere before digital cameras became all the rage. You remember you would aim, shoot and you would hear the woosh sound as the picture shoot  out from the front the camera.

My friends would watch to see how the picture developed right in from of their eyes. But you were always told by an adult “don’t touch the film or you will get your finger print on it”. It seemed everyone had one at at birthday parties, school events, trips, holidays, and family functions. For me it was popular in high school in 1976.

Today’s version is called the Polaroid 300 Instant Camera. The 300 comes with four scene settings, an integrated flash, and shoots business card size pics out the top.

The camera sells for $89.99 and runs on four AA batteries or a rechargeable li-ion (all included). You can get the camera in red, blue, or black color.

The film for the camera costs $9.99 per ten-exposure pack (ISO 800). The downside for me is the photos are much smaller than the originals, but you get the famous classic shape with the fat (chemical-containing) black bottom-border. Similar in size to a business card, the print is 2.1 x 3.4 inches (with a 1.8 x 2.4-inch image) versus the old 3.5 x 4.25 (3 x 3.1 image size).

Unlike digital cameras you can waste a lot of shots until you get the right one. At about a dollar a print, you’ll think twice about wasting the the shoot.

Regardless it’s a fun way to take a picture and share with your friends. No need to upload anything, and join the low-tech retro revolution.

Smile and say cheese!

KONAMI’S ROCKET KNIGHT OUT MAY 12

Hey kids, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today released new screen shots as well as the launch date for Rocket Knight, a new 2.5D online sequel to Konami’s classic action adventure series  will be available on May 12th on Xbox LIVE Arcade for 1200 MSP, PC download via Steam for $14.99 and on May 18th for $14.99 on the PlayStation Network.

This revealing new screens provide a sneak peek at the third flight stage for the first time. Included in the new screens is Sparkster invading the Wolf Army’s mountain forest, as well as the famed opossum hero dodging a barrage of missiles. Other screens show Zephyrus not quite like Sparkster had left it, and a few levels that show Sparkster rocketing past an enormous dirigible.

In Rocket Knight, players assume the role of Sparkster, a heroic opossum who returns home to the Kingdom of Zephyrus after 15 years only to discover that wolves have attacked his homeland. Rocket Knight introduces expansive new worlds to the franchise, with massive platform levels as well as rocket-flying levels. Using their wits and a trusty rocket pack, players must overcome the hostile wolf army aiming to attack Sparkster’s beloved kingdom.

As gamers battle their way past the enemy, their rocket pack can be used to ricochet off walls, launch Sparkster through obstacles and enemies in his way, and drill through weak walls to create new passageways. To attack distant foes, Sparkster can shoot projectiles from his sword or create a burst vortex with his rocket pack to repel enemy bombs right back at them. When all else fails, players can use Sparkster’s prehensile tail to hang from and slide down rails in order to avoid danger. With online leaderboards, dedicated players will also be able to show off their high scores and fastest times online.

Stay tuned to more previews and the review coming soon.
